Born to win

“We are born to win but programmed to lose”. AUK

I heard that interesting comment at an ACN event this weekend. I cannot remember who said it or what context but my mind immediately went to one of my philosophies.

Here is something to think on. Reflect on your life and if you are a parent, the lives of your kids. Remember WAYYYYYY back. When you were little, you were limitless. You explored absolutely everything you could. If your parents were “good” the only things restricted to you were those that may hurt you. If they could hurt you that was supposed to be a learning experience. I can remember chasing tadpoles trying to figure out how they work. Watching bean seeds germinating. Asking so many questions it made my mom crazy (but not my dad…..)

Then you turn five….. Mom packed you up and dragged you (well I was dragged) off to school where you met about 25 other very unique, free thinking, free spirited kids. Have you ever had the chance to talk to a 5 year old? They know EVERYTHING and are not afraid of ANYTHING.

Teacher says – SIT HERE. FACE HERE. DO THE SAME THING. DO NOT DIFFER. HERE IS YOU PENCIL. HERE IS HOW YOU PRINT. HERE IS HOW YOU WRITE. DO NOT DEVIATE OR THERE WILL BE TROUBLE.

Our school system, at least the curriculum, SUCKS!!!!!!!! We DO NOT teach our lids how to learn. We teach them what we want them to learn and most of it is stupid. Seriously. Seriously.

What we turn out are linear thinkers. Now at the age 50 I realize why I sucked at school and thought most of my employers were idiots. I was being taught and managed by linear thinkers. Linear thinkers get a job and work until they are 65 and most die shortly thereafter. Linear thinkers do what they are told. Only and always.

I am teaching at high school right now – Dual Credit – a college credit to high school students. The linear thinkers are the ones that sit and listen and take notes and answer questions. The creative thinkers are the ones that talk back, question, reason, think, and some of them act. The teachers I teach with (for the most part) are linear thinkers and HATE the creative thinkers believing them to be disruptive. BS The creative thinkers make ME think. They never ask black and white questions – they ONLY ask pink, blue or purple questions. Their questions are so off the wall (yet on topic) it takes me an hour to figure out the answer and have a discussion with them to come to a conclusion.

I just had a meet-and-greet with the students finishing the course. I told all of the students (1-on-1) what their strengths are. The one kid in my class the teacher “hates” (not quite) is the one that in 50 years will be the one with the “good life”. He is a leader. He follows most of what John Maxwell teaches leaders. He questions, pushes, advises, and everything else that drive a linear thinker around the bend. The only “real” advice I gave him was to be more subdued in his expression of his thoughts in order to allow the linear thinkers time to catch up to him. Not suppress his thoughts – moderate and control them….

I digress………

So what does “we are born to win and programmed to lose.” Actually mean.

All of us spent at least the fist 75% of our life before we entered the workforce being taught to be linear thinkers. We join the 95% of people who will work and die. Work and die. Work and die. We will spend about 75 years living… Nope. Not at all. Most people will live a year at a time 75 times.

So what do the 5% do? They are self employed. They are creative thinkers. They don’t have fewer problems, they have better solutions. In fact, because they are creative thinkers they have MORE problems but they have MORE skills as to how to deal with their problems. Why do they have more problems? In my mind it is because they take ownership of what happens to them and accept challenges as a route to their destiny….

The 5% by the way have ALL of the money. If you round up the percentages of who has the money in this world, the 5% have ALL of the money. In fact the 1% has the money.

I watch people joining movements such as Idle-No-More and they HATE the 1%. I coach my students to JOIN the 1% At least the 5%. There is SO much wealth in this world that we can ALL share it. You know what? The more wealth shared, the more wealth created. Its that simple. The Universe has infinite “everything” including wealth…. Just ask for it and work toward it……

So de-program yourself. Unlearn everything. Re-learn everything. Not everything you learn is bad, a lot of it is good. But the establishment calls it things we hate. “Literature” “English” “French” “Geography” “History” “Music”. If we taught more people about people we would have a better world. More wealth. Less conflict.

Its funny, I sucked at the “sciences” except biology which I was interested. I absolutely excelled in music, geography, history, literature……. Just sayin’….

Here is something else to stew on. If we look at the population of the planet. Here is a statistic on wealth:

1% Wealthy (ie stinking rich)
4% Financially Fit (enough money to make it to death. Likely a little legacy for their family)
5% Working (Until they die)
28% Died (Early)
62% Broke. (Destitute. Living in social housing. Living on a government pension or begging)

Where do you want to be? It is your choice….. It always was. It always will be.
