The 11 Forgotten Laws – Number 1 – Thinking
I listened to a great seminar series by Bob Proctor on the 11 Forgotten Laws. If you have watched
the movie The Secret you will know
Bob Proctor. He talks about the Law of Attraction. Much later I stumbled across
his seminar series on the 11 Forgotten Laws.
I’m not about to repeat everything Mr. Proctor said, I am going to summarize
it in my own words. As I understand them.
The Law of Thinking is as simple as it sounds. Our subconscious mind
controls our thoughts. In order to change our lives we must change our
thoughts. But there is a paradox here in that our subconscious controls the
conscious. Our subconscious makes decisions based on our paradigms. Paradigms
are basically habits we have formed over our lifetimes that make our decisions
for us.
And remember this – the human mind is negative. Our brain has one
function – to protect us. Everything that happens to us our subconscious mind
asks “Friend or Foe?”. We are a reactionary creature.
Think about it for a while and look back just over your recent day. How
many decisions did you actually make? I’ll bet very few. I imagine that most of
what you did today was habitual. Wake up, brush teeth, coffee, breakfast and
more – just habits. Including your decisions.
Now reflect on things, important things, that you would make a decision
about. Now ask yourself if you thought about your decision before answering. I’ll
bet most of the important decisions in your life you make just by habit.
So the Law of Thinking means that in order to get somewhere different,
you have to change your thinking – your decisions. In order to change your
decisions you need to change your paradigms. In order to change your paradigms
you need to change your habitual way of thinking.
This sounds hard. In fact it is very easy. It is very hard to KEEP
doing it but it is easy to do. As one mentor says, what is easy is also easy
not to do. Start doing it and keep doing it.
I see this as a two part system. First of all, my thinking has got me
into the mess I am in now. Therefore I must change my thinking in order to
change my life.
First of all I am re-programming my mind. Every morning and evening I
go through a conscious re-programming of my thoughts. In the morning I go over
my goals and everything I am grateful for. Every evening as I am in bed I go
over everything that happened during the day and how I responded to them. I
also reflect on the things that happened to me during the day I should be
grateful for.
The other thing I do is I keep my mind focused on my main goal. I have
a big hairy audacious goal (BHAG – Read Darren Hardy’s The Compound Effect) of being Senior Vice President BUT in order to
achieve that goal I have many smaller goals I need to achieve on the staircase
to my Major Purpose in Life. I have my goal on a card that I review several
times a day.
The Universe LOVES clarity. The clearer and more focused your thoughts
the better. I m not wishy washy about my goals. I am crystal clear.
I believe that the reason the Law of Attraction works best is with the
11 Forgotten Laws. Negative actions and thoughts attract negative reactions in
an instant. Positive thoughts and actions attract positive results but usually
very slowly. The Law of Thinking is an important step.
Start right now. Start to change your thoughts so you can change your
habits. Make your paradigms positive and healthy. Start THINKING. Be clear
about your thoughts and goals.
I’ll see you on the other side!
